Responsibilities


  • Ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of all approved training activities including all contracted activities under the ATO;
  • Ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated to the ATO training operations and raising any issues to the Head of Group Training (ATO Accountable Manager);
  • Ensuring the satisfactory integration of the flight, flight simulation and theoretical knowledge instruction into the ATO training programs;
  • Ensuring the execution of the flight crew training management activities for AOC defined under the service letter agreement.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Flight Instructor, ensuring the supervision of flight and/or flight simulation training instructors and the standardization of all flight simulation instruction under the scope of ATO approval.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Flight Instructor, developing and maintaining the AOC Flight Crew Instructor Standardization program, to ensure its compliance with the AOC requirements;
  • Assessing future potential risk through an active review of future demands in line with projected operational growth; and proactively identifying suitable resources, technologies, systems, or processes to mitigate the risk;
  • Ensuring that all personnel and activities comply with the Safety Management System procedures and processes, that he/she is aware of organizational risks and takes action to accept or reject according to the risk tolerability matrix;
  • Representing Wizz Air ATO in relevant industry bodies;
  • Participating in Meetings to align on team goals in accordance with the group training meeting matrix.


In conjunction with


  • The Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, ensuring the supervision of the theoretical knowledge instructors and the standardization of all theoretical knowledge instruction under the scope of ATO approval.
  • The Flight Crew Training Program Manager, ensuring the implementation and development of the ATO training programs;
  • The Flight Crew Training Program Manager, ensuring that the AOC Flight Crew training programs are aligned with AOC’s operational procedures, safety standards, and performance expectations;
  • The Flight Crew Training Performance Manager, ensuring effective performance monitoring across AOC flight crew training programs;
  • The Flight Crew Training Performance Manager, ensuring effective performance monitoring across ATO training programs;


Liaising with


  • AOC Crew Training Managers on all training operations matters;
  • The Group Training Services Senior Manager on all training services matters;
  • The Group Training Operations Senior Manager on all training operations matters;
  • The Group Training Safety Manager on all safety matters;
  • The Group Training Compliance Monitoring Manager on all compliance matters;
  • The Crew Training Policy Manager in all ATO OM update related matters.
  • Group Training Planning and Resource Manager on all training planning and resources matters;
  • ATO Training Supervisor on all ATO matters;
  • The competent authority on all ATO training operations' matters;


Authorities


  • Nominate Chief Flight Instructor, Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, ATO SFIs, ATO TRIs, ATO TKIs;
  • Approve ATO’s Operations Manuals and Training Manuals;
  • Suspend operation within the ATO area of scope if deemed reasonable;
  • Temporarily revoke ATO instructor’s qualifications, pending re-qualification or investigation of the instructor's performance standards;
  • Approve safety improvement actions;
  • Make decisions regarding risk tolerability in accordance with the risk tolerability matrix;
  • Make decision about the necessary actions in case of unsatisfactory trainee performance under the ATO training;
  • Make decision about the necessary training in case of ratings renewal;
  • Liaise with the authorities.


Experience


  • 5-7+ years aviation management experience; 
  • Hold or have held instructor/examiner qualification on all type/class operated at the ATO; 
  • Being a current instructor/examiner on a type/class operated at the ATO; 
  • Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices; 


Hard skills


  • Specialized training as per GT OMM; 
  • Be acceptable to the competent Authority as Nominated Person (ATO Head of Training). 


Education


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree 


Language


  • Fluent english (both written and spoken) 


Skills and competencies


  • Native or similar standard of spoken and written English; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with focus on Teamwork; 
  • Good knowledge of ATO operations; 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the applicable EU and UK regulations and associated requirements 
  • Familiarity with management systems in the area of aviation; 
  • Knowledge of presentation techniques; 
  • Knowledge of feedback and coaching techniques; 
  • Experience on computer programs relevant to the responsibilities (Word, Excel, PPT etc.); 
  • Capable of motivating and developing others by providing support and guidance.
