The role you will play:

  • Develop, own, and execute the strategy for Air New Zealand’s cloud platform portfolio, including a range of AWS and Azure services.
  • Define and drive the product roadmap, prioritizing new developments and ensuring alignment with business objectives and user community needs.
  • Support a cross-functional team of architects, engineers, and technical specialists, offering subject matter expertise and technical consultancy.
  • Foster a user self-service approach to reduce operational toil and improve the developer experience.
  • Lead and promote DevOps and SRE practices across the organization, ensuring continuous delivery and high operational standards.
  • Manage the operational oversight of the cloud platform, ensuring high availability, security, and performance 24/7.
  • Support the FinOps practices across the business, enabling cost transparency and efficiency in cloud operations.
  • Manage third-party providers and maintain key relationships with cloud service providers and integrators.
  • Drive continuous platform enhancements, balancing operational needs with customer-driven improvements.

You’ll be comfortable working with complex cloud environments and have a strong track record of managing cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure. You’ll also have a collaborative approach, working closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver results.


We’re looking for strong engineering talent with:

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering, particularly with AWS and Azure.
  • Proven experience in cloud governance frameworks and technical leadership within these environments.
  • Strong background in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, with hands-on experience in CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Demonstrated contribution to a high-performance team culture, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams
  • Experience in cloud FinOps practices, driving cost-effective cloud strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business stakeholders.
  • Relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage conflicting priorities.
  • A strong understanding of risk, compliance, and operational oversight in cloud platforms.
