We are looking for an experienced Lead Powerplant Engineer to oversee the Powerplant Engineering function, supporting engine workscoping activities and ensuring operational performance meets Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to manage shop induction workscopes, drive productivity improvements, and support key engineering investigations.
The successful candidate will lead the team’s performance metrics through Flightdeck principles, ensuring strong execution, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Planning
- Lead the Powerplant Engineering team and support manpower planning to meet production and workscoping requirements.
- Coordinate with production and technical teams to ensure engine workscopes are properly planned and executed.
Workscope Management
- Manage engine workscopes across the shop induction pipeline to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with customer needs.
- Ensure workscoping effectiveness to support timely engine turnaround and operational delivery targets.
Performance & KPI Ownership (SQDIP)
- Drive the team’s SQDIP performance metrics using Flightdeck tools and principles.
- Ensure accountability across the team and continuously monitor performance to meet key operational goals.
Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Lead cost-saving initiatives by challenging existing workscope practices and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze historical engine/component data using internal systems such as CFMi Salesforce and MRB review findings to support cost reduction strategies.
Technical Investigation & Fleet Support
- Lead and manage engine investigations to determine root cause of technical issues, supporting fleet management and long-term reliability.
- Provide engineering input for corrective actions and improvement recommendations.
Safety & Compliance
- Support Safety Action Group activities and contribute to the implementation and compliance of Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Ensure engineering activities align with established regulatory and safety standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in powerplant engineering, with strong knowledge of propulsion systems, engine fundamentals, and thermodynamics. They are results-driven, analytical, and capable of leading teams while managing operational KPIs.
This candidate will be confident in cross-functional collaboration, capable of managing complex engineering priorities, and committed to continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Aviation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in powerplant engineering and engine workscoping.
